How is Internet Measured?

Internet download/upload speed is measured in megabits per second (Mbps) or gigabits per second (Gbps). It’s likely you’ve seen this acronym when signing up for service with your internet service provider (ISP). The ping, or latency measures the time it takes a packet of data to make a round trip from your home to the server and back, this measured in milliseconds (ms)

Wired vs Wireless

Wireless speeds aren’t always a true reflection of how capable your internet is. Your ISP bases their speed tiers on a hardwired connection at the modem. Ensuring you retain those speeds throughout every corner your home is up to you— and your local WiFi Pros of course. Your router settings, radio interference and even the condition of your network cables all affect the speed and performance of your WiFi. The equipment we install for you runs hardwired speed tests almost daily so that a baseline can be established for the true speeds of your internet. From there we can scale how well your WiFi is performing and make adjustments accordingly.
